Manaus, also known as Manaus, is the capital of the Brazilian state of Amazonas, located at the confluence of the Black and Solimões rivers, tributaries of the Amazon, and covers an area of 337 square kilometres, with a population of around 1.9 million in 2014, making it the most populous city in the state.
